SUMMARY:Pablo Picasso: Structures of Invention
DESCRIPTION:Pablo Picasso: Structures of Invention – The Unity of a Life’s Work\nExperience a revolutionary view of the master’s career! The Museo Picasso Málaga has transformed its galleries to host Pablo Picasso: Structures of Invention. This permanent transformation is a project from the Museo Picasso Málaga. It features approximately 144 works of art. Furthermore\, these pieces reveal Picasso’s extraordinary ability to create innovative structures. \nThe Unity of a Life’s Work\nThis new installation challenges conventional interpretations of Picasso’s career. Curator Michael FitzGerald proposes a unified body of art. Therefore\, the installation avoids the traditional practice of dividing his work. \nTraditionally\, Picasso’s long career is fragmented in two main ways: \n\nStylistic Periods: These include the ‘Blue’ period\, ‘Cubism\,‘ or ‘Surrealism’.\nBiographical Periods: These are based on his relationships\, such as the period of Dora Maar or Jacqueline Roque.\n\nConversely\, the new display reconnects these different phases. FitzGerald states that Picasso’s creativity arose from two opposing inspirations: innovation and retrospection. Consequently\, the exhibition illustrates how he wove Cubism\, Classicism\, and Surrealism into one cohesive whole. \nNew Works and Thematic Jumps\nThis Picasso Structures of Invention approach involves the viewer in the artist’s creative process. Visitors now see relationships across his career by combining works from different decades in the same gallery. \n\nWorks Spanning Decades: The works span the period between 1895 and 1972.\nTechniques: The display combines painting\, sculpture\, ceramics\, drawing\, and graphic art.\nNew to Spain: The exhibition features several pieces new to Spain. For example\, these include the oils Paul (The Artist’s Son) (1922) and Head of a Woman (1928). The sculpture Woman leaning on her Elbow (1933) is also displayed.\n\nResearch and Focus Exhibitions\nA new feature includes five small ‘Focus Exhibitions’ within the permanent collection. Researchers from the Fundación Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso (FABA) curate these sections. Specifically\, themes covered include the artist’s relationship with African sculpture and his plaster sculptures of the 1930s.

SUMMARY:To Open Eyes: Transforming Our Gaze Through Modern Art
DESCRIPTION:To Open Eyes: Transforming Our Gaze Through Modern Art\nArt should teach us to see and feel life more deeply. In 1940\, the influential artist Josef Albers shared this powerful vision. Today\, the Centre Pompidou Malaga brings this philosophy to life in its new exhibition. “To Open Eyes” invites you on a journey through the evolution of modern creativity. \nThis exhibition explores how artists help us transform our relationship with the world. Consequently\, the display does not follow a simple timeline. Instead\, it organizes works based on visual themes and artistic rimas. You will find a diverse range of media\, from traditional paintings to contemporary installations. Furthermore\, these pieces reflect the immense richness of the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. \nVisitors can witness the major ruptures that shaped the history of 20th and 21st-century art. The collection specifically highlights how art interacts with history\, spirituality\, and our social imagination. By moving away from a traditional narrative\, the exhibition offers a free and open panorama. Therefore\, every visitor can experience a unique connection with the works on display. \nThis is more than just an art show. It is an invitation to decentralize your gaze and reconsider the world around you. Make sure to visit this landmark exhibition in Malaga before it concludes in early 2027.

SUMMARY:Telluric and Primitive: From the Vallecas School to Miquel Barceló
DESCRIPTION:Telluric and Primitive: Rediscovering Modern Spanish Art in Málaga\nExperience the roots of modern Spanish art in the upcoming exhibition “Telluric and Primitive: From the Vallecas School to Miquel Barceló”. This major temporary showcase will take place at the Museo Carmen Thyssen Málaga. Specifically\, the exhibition invites visitors to rediscover a unique artistic identity. This identity spans from the 1920s through the late 20th century. \nThe exhibition features more than sixty diverse works. For instance\, visitors can see various paintings\, sculptures\, and drawings. These pieces explore two powerful paths of artistic renewal. First\, the telluric style is inspired by the Earth’s interior and geological matter. Second\, the primitive style draws from ancestral signs and the unconscious mind. Therefore\, the show provides a deep look at how nature transforms into a new avant-garde language. \nYou can view works from iconic masters such as Pablo Picasso\, Joan Miró\, and Antoni Tàpies. Furthermore\, the collection includes pieces by Miquel Barceló and Maruja Mallo. These artists redefined modernism by looking back at ancient origins. Consequently\, their relationship with the landscape became a central theme of Spanish art history. \nThe exhibition is located in the temporary exhibition hall on the third floor. Because it is a limited-time event\, we recommend planning your visit early. It is a perfect opportunity for both locals and tourists to explore the depth of Spanish creativity.

SUMMARY:AM CB: Annette Messager and Christian Boltanski
DESCRIPTION:AM CB: A Powerful Artistic Dialogue at Centre Pompidou Malaga\nExperience a profound connection between two of France’s most influential contemporary artists. From November 20\, 2025\, through April 6\, 2026\, the Centre Pompidou Malaga presents “AM CB”. This temporary exhibition highlights the shared languages and distinct methods of Annette Messager and the late Christian Boltanski. Although they were life partners\, they rarely showcased their work together during their careers. \nThis exhibition brings together approximately thirty major works from the Centre Pompidou collection in Paris. The display covers over five decades of creative output\, spanning from 1968 to 2022. Visitors will find a wide variety of artistic mediums. These specifically include experimental photography\, artist books\, and large-scale mixed-media installations. Furthermore\, the works explore deeply human themes such as memory\, childhood\, and the fragile nature of our existence. \nThe journey through the gallery is structured to reveal visual and conceptual affinities between the two artists. For example\, Boltanski’s focus on the “ordinary” and the “reliquary” meets Messager’s interest in the “imaginary” and the “vocabulary”. Consequently\, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to see how these two giants of art stimulated and challenged one another. \n\nExhibition Dates: November 20\, 2025 – April 6\, 2026\nOpening Hours: Monday\, Wednesday – Sunday: 09:30 to 20:00 (Closed Tuesdays)

SUMMARY:Reflections. Picasso x Barceló
DESCRIPTION:Reflections. Picasso x Barceló – A Transhistorical Ceramics Dialogue\nExplore a dynamic conversation across centuries of art! The exhibition\, Reflections. Picasso x Barceló\, is part of the ongoing Reflections. Picasso × series. This project comes from the Museo Picasso Málaga. Furthermore\, the project aims to establish essential dialogues between Pablo Picasso and various artists. This second chapter focuses on the powerful medium of clay. This Picasso Barceló Ceramics Dialogue is a must-see event. \nConnecting Art\, Archaeology\, and Matter\nThis exhibition establishes a unique transhistorical dialogue. It merges the functional with the symbolic. In fact\, the show creates an intimate encounter between art\, archaeology\, and matter. Practices separated by millennia are recognized within a single creative impulse. \nThe dialogue is articulated through ceramics. This is one of the oldest and most universal creative mediums. The exhibition invites us to understand ceramics as a universal language. Consequently\, the functional and the symbolic\, the everyday and the transcendent\, the material and the spiritual all converge here. This practice has transformed earth\, water\, and fire into enduring art over the centuries. \nThe Artists and the Clay\nBoth artists utilized the ancient medium of ceramics for modern ends. \n\nPicasso’s Laboratory: After World War II\, Picasso found a laboratory of invention in clay in Vallauris. For instance\, he combined painting\, sculpture\, and objects. He transformed plates and pots into mythological figures and everyday scenes.\nBarceló’s Territory: Barceló came to ceramics in the 1990s during his stay in Mali. He learned traditional techniques there. Therefore\, he conceived of clay as a territory for experimentation. Ritual\, the corporeal\, and the material all converge in his work.\n\nThe exhibition brings together these ceramic works with archaeological pieces from the museum’s collections.
