Forgotten Empires is a world-class game developer dedicated to the PC and Console landscape. Since 2022, we have been a proud part of Keywords Studios, working with over 100 passionate individuals globally to shape top-tier games.

We are currently looking for an experienced Software Engineer with a focus on Gameplay and AI to join the legendary Age of Empires team. If you’ve got a generalist mindset and a passion for RTS, we want you to help bring our games to life.

🛠️ THE MISSION: COOL STUFF YOU’LL BE DOING

You won’t just be writing code; you’ll be impacting the development of an iconic franchise:

• Engine Work: Dive into a C++ codebase on a custom engine.
• Generalist Focus: Maintain and develop features for both the game and its internal tools.
• Optimization: Regularly debug, profile, and optimize code to ensure high-performance gameplay.
• Collaboration: Partner with a multidisciplinary team to bring complex features from concept to reality.

✅ WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

We need an RTS veteran who knows the professional gaming landscape:

• RTS Background: Must have prior professional experience working on RTS-based games.
• C++ Mastery: Proven senior-level engineering experience in C++.
• Track Record: At least one shipped title and recent experience in the video game industry.
• Language: B2 English level (conversational and written).
• Location: You must be local to Málaga, Spain, or working remotely within the UK/EU (EU time zones required).
• The AoE Factor: Player or development experience with Age of Empires games is a major plus!
