Ronda suits visitors who want to combine wine, mountain scenery, winery visits and sightseeing. Allow substantial time for travel.
Manilva is closer to Estepona and better suited to a short introduction to local wines, provided you can arrange your own transport.

You do not need to go all the way to Ronda for a tasting. Manilva, just west of Estepona, has two wineries you can visit. In Estepona Old Town, a wine bar runs weekly tastings.
NILVA’s Standard Guided Visit takes about 2 hours. It covers the CIVIMA wine museum, the NILVA winery and the Viña del Peñoncillo vineyard, with Moscatel wines and tapas. It costs €30 per person booked direct. You meet at Calle Dr. Álvarez Leiva 2, Manilva, and make your own way there.
Bodegas Manilva makes Kalma, a DO Sierras de Málaga wine, from old vines with views of the sea. The visit walks the vineyard and the winery, then ends with a tasting of five wines. It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes. It runs on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:00. Adults pay €40. Ages 16 to 17 pay €25 and ages 12 to 15 pay €20. Book at least 2 days ahead.
La Casa del Rey is a tapas and wine bar with more than 120 wines, 50 of them by the glass. It holds wine tastings every Thursday, in Spanish and English.
